GUATEMALA-ANTIGUA : In morning you will depart for Antigua, the former Spanish Colonial Capital of the country and today a national monument of the Americas. Sightseeing tour of this charming town. A very pleasant city of cobble stones streets, houses and mansions with colonial-style facades and tile roofs. Your tour guide will take you to visit churches, convents, monasteries and other colonial buildings and explain the history of all these places. Overnight accommodations at HOTEL ANTIGUA.(B) | | Day 3 | Atitlan | WED. ANTIGUA-LAKE ATITLAN : In the morning depart for Lake Atitlan,with beautiful views of its 3 volcanoes in the background -San Pedro, Toliman and Atitlan. Stop at the Archaeological Site of Iximche for a visit. Overnight accommodations will be provided in Panajachel. HOTEL ATITLAN.(B) | | Day 4 | Quetzaltenango | THU. (B) | | Day 5 | Huehuetenango | QUETZALTENANGO-HUEHUETENANGO : Visit the colorful open-air animal market of San Francisco El Alto, the Church of San Andres Xecul and beautiful Valley of Almolonga. Overnight accommodations in Huehuetenango at HOTEL CUCHUMATANES. (B) | | Day 6 | Chichicastenango | SAT. HUEHUETENANGO-CHICHICASTENANGO : In the morning visit the colorful open-air market of Todos Santos Cuchumatanes. In the afternoon continue to Chichicastenango for overnight accommodations at MAYA INN. (B) | | Day 7 | Guatemala City | SUN. CHICHICASTENANGO-GUATEMALA CITY : One of the main reasons for a trip to Chichicastenango is to participate in the market, which is held only twice a week and deserves its fame. You will also see the church of Santo Tomas where the Mayan Quiche natives observe unique religious customs. After lunch continue back to Guatemala City. HOTEL MARRIOTT(B) | | Day 8 | Copan | MON. GUATEMALA-COPAN : Begin the trip that will take you through El Progreso and Zacapa. Continue to Copan, Honduras. Here you will visit the archaeological site which contains one of the greatest collection of Mayan sculptures anywhere in Central America. Time to visit the main Plaza, its Temples and the complete Ball Court. Overnight HOTEL POSADA REAL. (B) | | Day 9 | Puerto Barrios | TUE. COPAN-PUERTO BARRIOS : After breakfast return to Guatemalan territory to continue to Quirigua, where you will find 12 carved stelaes, 4 enormous carved stones of mythological forms and unrestored temples. The dates recorded on the monuments are exact intervals of 800 days.... In the afternoon proceed to Puerto Barrios for overnight accommodations. HOTEL AMATIQUE BAY. (B) | | Day 10 | Rio Dulce | WED. PUERTO BARRIOS-RIO DULCE : In the morning join the launch excursion to Livingston. In the afternoon, continue to Castillo de San Felipe. Overnight accommodations will be in the Rio Dulce Area. HOTEL CATAMARAN(B) | | Day 11 | Flores | THU. RIO DULCE-FLORES : Morning at leisure. After lunch, transfer by land to Flores or Tikal for Overnight accommodations at VILLA MAYA. FLORES-TIKAL-GUATEMALA : Today, you will go back more than 2,000 years in time when you visit Tikal. Early morning transfer to the National Park for a visit of the many pyramids, stelaes, temples and buildings of one of the major archaeological finds of the Americas "Tikal", the Capital of the Mayan Empire After lunch you will visit the local museum.
